Sugarcreek Twp. police chief resigns

SUGARCREEK TWP., Ohio (WDTN) - Sugarcreek Township needs a new police chief.

Chief James Deaton announced his resignation Friday after 17 years on the force.

He cited personal reasons for his decision to step down.

Deaton joined the force as a part-time patrolman in 1996.  He's been chief since September 2011.

His replacement has not been named just yet.
