It happened around 8:00 in the 1600 block of Roxbury Drive. Officials are still investigating the cause. A neighbor from across the street said he smelled natural gas in the air shortly before the house went up in flames.

The resident of the house was outside when the explosion occurred and suffered what medics said were minor burns.

"It's a disaster. There's a lot of losses inside. It's hard to keep a house and a family and especially in this economy it's so sad," said Manuel Gonzalez, neighbor.

The house was destroyed, with the roof gone and only the exterior walls standing. There is also damage to the two adjacent homes.  The house was demolished Monday afternoon.

2 NEWS photojournalist Kris Sproles said as he was approaching the area, he could see smoke billowing from several miles away.
