WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio - Wright-Patterson Air Force Base was briefly placed on lockdown Tuesday after Base Security Forces received a report of an individual carrying what appeared to be a weapon in Area B.
“All evidence at this time points to an erroneous initial report and the all clear signal has been issued for the area,” base public affairs officials said in a statement.
Base officials said everyone responded to the alert as they were trained to do while security forces searched for the alleged armed person in military-type clothing.
Even though Tuesday's threat turned out to be unfounded, Wright-Patt officials remind everyone to remain vigilant and to report any unusual or suspicious situations.
