Greene County residents brave the storm

XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - Snow plows made their way through the streets of Xenia early Wednesday morning in preparation of the snow and sleet that began pouring down on Greene County.

Pretty soon, the snow covered this stretch of US 35, leaving one driver in a ditch and slowing traffic just before the North Fairfield exit.

Tow trucks blocked roadways all across Greene County where officials say multiple drivers fell victim to the slick roads and piling snow.

Salt trucks were also on the roads, working to get ahead of what they feared could be a chaotic morning commute.

Meanwhile, folks in Beavercreek were preparing for the storm.

"I told myself I needed to get to the grocery before we get 7 or 8 inches of snow. We were out of milk from yesterday, so-- we needed food, provisions for the weather."

But for Elizabeth Rudloff, who braved the snow, and a little window scraping, but you won't hear her complaining.

"I'm excited for some real snow. We didn't get any snow last year.”

And while we may not have seen snow quite like this in 2011, it doesn't come as a surprise.

"It's Ohio. It's Ohio, it's not a big deal. It's not March, it's not April...so, Christmas season, it's alright for today.”
