FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) - Christina Maddock only spent a short time at Fairborn High School but she left a big impression.
"She was always quiet but she was always smiling, always pleasant to work with, nice kid, involved, volunteered for everything, a good student," says Major Tony Rulli.
Major Rulli was one of Christina's instructors when she was in the Air Force Junior ROTC program in high school. Christina graduated in 2003. She then studied to Wright State University, where she graduated in 2009.
She was also an active member of the Ohio Air National Guard.
This week, The 27-year-old was shot critically injured in Afghanistan while working as a contractor the Colorado-based company called Intelligence Software Solutions, according to a company spokesperson.
Major Rulli was shocked to hear what happened to his former student.
"It's a shame, too young. It's a tragedy," explains Major Rulli.
He says Christina is a fighter.
"She persevered a lot, through a lot of things and she always a hard-worker, good success story and she always smiled. I remember that, she always smiled a lot," comments Major Rulli.
Christina's family tells 2 News she was on life support Saturday night at a hospital in Germany.
