Deadline comes for troop donations

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) - March 11 is the last day you can help our troops overseas.

The Beavercreek Fire Department ends their collection that day as they prepare to begin packing items to ship to the men and women serving our country.

You can drop off items at the stations on Indian Ripple Road, Kemp Road and both stations on Dayton-Xenia Road.

The collection drive is part of a larger effort by the Ohio Blue Star Mothers and Operation Thank You.

Items will be shipped beginning the week of March 18.

Items needed are:

• Potato Chips                      
• Cookies (That won't melt)
• Gum                                      
• Beef Jerky
• Hard Candy                       
• Baby/Wet Wipes (unscented)
• Nuts                                      
• Microwave foods
• Cheese Crackers            
• Tuna Fish/Chicken (vacu seal packs)
• Drink Mixes (for water bottles)
• Small Cans of food (with pop tops) (fruit, Vienna sausages, beans & franks etc.)
• Tube Socks                       
• Stationary
• Toothbrushes                   
• toothpaste
