WILBERFORCE, Ohio (WDTN) - Central State University's 125th commencement represented one of the largest graduating classes in more than five years with 311 students receiving diplomas on Saturday.
The ceremony was also the last to be officiated by President John W. Garland. President Garland will retire from the university June 30th after a 15 year leadership role.
Patricia Russell-McCloud, J.D. delivered Saturday's commencement address. Ms. Russell-McCloud has been named one of the top five business motivators in the country.
Central State University, celebrating its 125th anniversary, is committed to supporting Ohio's efforts to increase the number of citizens with baccalaureate degrees in the knowledge-based fields of the twenty-first century. The college has been designated by the State of Ohio as a Center of Excellence in Emerging Technologies and Fine and Performing Arts. Central State University is Ohio's only publicly supported Historically Black University.
