JAMESTOWN, Ohio (WDTN) - The Sandy Hook massacre is heavy on the minds of Greeneview Schools Superintendent Joe Parish.
As a result, he placed armed Jamestown police officers in the elementary, middle and high schools.
"But we realize that if the incident, Sandy Hook, had been at Greeneview Local Schools, the same results would have came about. We didn't have the protection that they obviously didn't have," said Parish.
Parish said he and Jamestown Police Chief Rodger Tyree, came up with the new safety plan.
"I believe this is the wave of the future to have our security personnel on hand if an incident should occur," said Tyree .
Jamestown mother of two, Heather Pierce, said she feels more secure knowing her children are protected.
"I know that my son really enjoys talking to the police officer. He came home with stories on Monday that he got to meet him. He was really excited about it too," said Pierce.
