NEW MADISON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Tri-Village School District is warning parents about a head lice outbreak.
The situation is serious enough that school is closed Friday, September 28, 2012.
School leaders sent an information sheet home with students Thursday afternoon with advice on how to treat it.
They suggest that every parent treat their child whether or not they have head lice.
The district says it is closing tomorrow so that parents have extra time to treat their kids and to clean the school building.
Athletic events were canceled for Thursday evening, although they will proceed as normal Friday.
Head lice are tiny insects that live on the skin covering the scalp. They can be spread by close contact with other people.
Tri-Village Schools serve children in New Madison in Darke County.
