SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - A Springfield man was rushed to a Dayton hospital after he was attacked by several dogs Tuesday near the intersection of Bellefair Avenue and Isabella Street.
Police and rescue crews were called to the scene, near Davey Moore Park, shortly after Noon Tuesday.
Witnesses tell 2 NEWS a man and a woman were riding along the roadway when the man apparently stopped in a yard that was posted “Beware of Dogs.” That’s when, they say, two or three dogs began attacking the man.
A bystander tried to hit the dogs with shovels, but they would not relent. Springfield Police officers arrived and shot and killed one of the dogs. One was captured by the Humane Society. The other is still on the loose.
The dogs are cane corsos, a type of mastiff.
The victim was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital. His condition is unknown.
