Shooting outside Springfield bakery

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - A Springfield shopping center was blocked off with crime tape Monday evening as police investigated a shooting.

Officers were called to 2968 Derr Road around 6:30 p.m.

They say the man was sitting in his car when the shooting happened in the parking lot outside of Schuler's Bakery.  Police say the victim ran into the bakery to get help.

A witness told 2 News that she heard an argument shortly before the shooting.

The victim was shot  in the upper chest area.  He was at Miami Valley Hospital for treatment.  No word on his condition.

Police are looking for the suspect's SUV.  It is described as a large dark colored SUV with the license plate beginning with F L T.  It left the scene heading south on Derr Road.
