JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) - A burst of evening snow could be a factor in a fatal accident in Preble County.
It happened about 6 p.m. along US HIghway 40 southeast of New Paris at Oxford-Gettysburg Road.
Investigators say the driver of the SUV lost control and flipped the SUV over when the driver over-corrected the steering wheel.
One person was killed. A second victim was removed to Reid Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
There were several reports of crashes on slick roads. One crash on Interstate 75 near the Austin Boulevard interchange had traffic backed up for a couple of hours. A ReportIt witness told 2 NEWS traffic was backed up "as far as the eye can see". Police say a car hit a slick spot and turned on its side in the median. The driver was not hurt. The highway re-opened shortly after 10:00 pm.
