SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - Authorities are sending a warning to you after Sunday's deadly Crash in Clark County.
It happened just before 11 Sunday morning on North Hampton Road, just north of Johnson Road.
Troopers say a Chevy truck driven by 19-year-old Brian Blanton of Springfield was heading northbound on the road when it hit and killed 78-year-old Richard Prince of Conover.
Prince was reportedly standing in the roadway, unloading a piece of machinery from a tractor trailer that was parked along the side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Blanton wasn't injured in the crash.
Now, troopers are urging you to be extra careful when driving this holiday in hopes of avoiding tragedies like this one.
"The biggest thing is to slow down. I'm not saying that speed was at all a factor in this. I'm just saying that if you're going slower, it takes less time to stop if you see something suddenly in front of you and to just pay attention to the roadway," says Sgt. Bo Schmutz of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
No charges have been filed.
The crash is still being investigated.
