SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) -

A December benefit concert pays off for the Springfield YMCA.

Organizers gave a $5,000 check to help fix the ceiling of the Y's basketball gym.

Singer and Springfield native, John Legend, performed at the benefit.  His brother, Vaughn Anthony, helped organize the event.  He too performed.

"I'm real excited about giving the money to the YMCA and this is where our youth come to stay off the streets and keep out of trouble," said Anthony.

Any remaining money after the repair will be added to a scholarship fund.

The benefit concert will be an annual event.
