Industrial park expected to bring jobs

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - The former International Truck and Engine Body Plant will be grounds for a new industrial park. The city planning administrator Bryan Heck said the park could bring between 500 to 1000 jobs to Springfield.
"Obviously the economy took a turn in 2008 and we are trying to revitalize again by reinvesting and redeveloping existing sites. We're investing in our already developed core area," said Heck.
Heck said the 60 acre site will be turned into the "Champion City Business Park" located on Reaper and Lagonda avenues.
"The Champion City Business Park will be a light industrial park that will offer anywhere from three to seven lots that can be developed by light industrial users," said Heck.
Heck said infrastructure construction was made possible through a $1.8 million Road Work Development grant from the Department of Development from the state.
