DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County will hold a H1N1 clinic for a very targeted group of the general public that is most at risk. Because only a limited amount of H1N1 vaccine is available at this time, a clinic targeted only for pregnant women and children from 6 months through 4 years of age is being held at Hara Arena, 1001 Shiloh Springs Rd., Trotwood, on October 29 from 3-7 p.m., or until the vaccine is gone. Both nasal spray and shots will be available at the start of the clinic.

As more vaccine becomes available, additional public clinics will be held for other individuals in the targeted groups of those most at risk.

Montgomery County Health Commissioner Jim Gross explains, “It is very frustrating for everyone, including Public Health, that vaccine supplies are arriving so slowly at this point.” “We have already vaccinated many health care workers involved in direct patient care, and are beginning to vaccinate children in 173 Montgomery County schools,” he continued.

Commissioner Gross is asking that the general public continue to remain patient as Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County targets vaccinations to those people most at risk from H1N1 infection. Public Health expects that over the upcoming weeks, there will be adequate vaccine to allow everyone in Montgomery County that wishes to receive an H1N1 immunization to do so.
