RIVERSIDE, Ohio (WDTN) - The nation's official 9/11 flag is being restored one patch at a time.
The flag made a stop in the Miami Valley Friday to receive a swatch of cloth from retired flags that flew in Ohio.
Local members of the armed forces did the sewing out at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
The flag originally hung from a building near the World Trade Center. It was damaged when the south tower collapsed.
It was recovered a week after the disaster.
"The New York Says Thank You Foundation Flag Tour goes to communities and helps them after a natural disaster. In 2008, they went to Greensboro, Kansas and the ladies decided to sew it back together," said Carolyn Deters, Tour Manager.
The flag will be restored with retired flags from all 50 states.
The completed flag will be displayed at the September Eleventh National Museum.
The following people have recently been booked into Jail. They may not have been convicted of the crimes they are charged with and are innocent until proven guilty.
