COLUMBIA, S.C. (WDTN) - Diamond Pet Foods is recalling certain bags of its cat food.
The company says the food might have low levels of thiamine.
Veterinarians say thiamine helps cats maintain normal nervous system function. Symptoms include decreased appetite, salivation, vomiting and weight loss.
“If you have fed your cat with the affected product and notice your cat is not acting right, take him or her to your family veterinarian as soon as possible,” said Dr. Alexis Cottingham, a veterinarian with BluePearl Veterinary Partners.
The products were distributed in 25 states including Ohio.
People who have the affected bags should discard it or return it to the store for refund.
