CLIFTON, Ohio (WDTN) - George Leightenheimer looks through pictures.

Memories from happier times.

This is the first Christmas he and his family will be spending without his father Thomas.

"It's kind of rough," says Leightenheimer.

The 68-year-old Air Force Vet lost his battle with cancer in September.

"It's rough when you lose a loved one.  But, now everything we do, in my mind, is kind of a memorial for the one's we've lost because they would want us to
keep fighting because they fought as long as they could," explains George.

His dad is why George got involved with Greene County's Relay for Life.

"My dad always taught us, you know, to pay it forward and that's kind of what I'm trying to do now and every dollar that we raise is going directly for cancer research," comments George.

The event isn't until May but the biggest fundraiser takes place Wednesday night until 9 P.M. at Clifton Mill.  $2 of every admission will be donated to Relay for Life.

George says everyone has been touched by cancer in some way and that's why you should help.

"I don't say give until it hurts but, you know, ten dollars, five dollars, whatever, because every penny does count. It could be one penny closer to us finding that cure for a horrible disease.  It's taken a lot of lives," says George.
