SIDNEY, Ohio (WDTN) - If you don't have health insurance and you live in Shelby County, you could be eligible for free medical services.
Compassionate Care is a free health clinic on N. Ohio Street in Sidney that has filled medical needs for five years.
"This place has been a blessing to me. I have had pneumonia, bronchitis. I don't know what I would have done without meds coming here," said Jeannie Carroll, patient.
Jeannie has a job, but no health care coverage. Through Compassionate Care, she, along with other uninsured Shelby County residents who are under the line of poverty, are able to get their health care needs met.
"It saddened me to think people couldn't get to a physician or nurse practitioner because didn't have funds," said Teresa Ditmer, Executive Director of Compassionate Care.
Compassionate Care is Ditmer's brain child. Years ago, the registered nurse dreamed of a faith based clinic that offers primary care, pharmacy and dental services.
The community partnering in Shelby County helps make the clinic happen financially, emotionally and spiritually, enriching the lives of the medically un-insured.
If you need Compassionate Care services, you can check your qualifications by calling 492-9400.
