(Dayton Business Journal) - The National Museum of the United States Air Force is getting $50,000 from Alenia North America to help with a new building project.

On Friday, the Air Force Museum Foundation announced the pledge, which will support construction of a fourth building at the museum. The new 224,000-square-foot facility is slated to house the museum’s Space Gallery, Global Reach Gallery and Presidential Aircraft Gallery. It will also offer new educational opportunities for history programs as well as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics-based, or STEM, programs.

Washington, D.C.-based Alenia North America is a subsidiary of Alenia Aeronautica and part of the Finmeccanica Group. Foundation officials said Alenia has been involved in almost every major aircraft developed in the U.S. during the past 40 years.

With the latest donation, the foundation has secured more than $37 million toward the $47 million project cost.
